Take It To the Box
What is "Take It To The Box?"
The Take It To The Box program promotes the safe use, safe storage and safe disposal of unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications. This includes both human and animal medications. The Sibley County community is serious about preventing medication misuse and abuse, and about disposing of unneeded medications in an environmentally safe way.
Why is it important?
There is a growing concern about the abuse (by youth and others) of medications not prescribed to them. Safe disposal makes medications less availabe. There is also increasing evidence of the damage to the environment due to unsafe disposal of medications. Proper disposal helps protect our soil and water.
When is it available?
Medication disposal boxes are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a free service.
Where is the disposal box located?
The disposal box is located in the lobby at the Sibley County Sheriif's Department, 419 Harrison Street in Gaylord.
What do i do?
- Leave medication in the original container.
- Remove your name and other identifying information.
- Leave the name of the medication on the container.
