Immunizations

The Public Health Unit provides immunizations to residents who do not have health insurance or whose insurance does not cover immunizations.  Cost is $20.00 per vaccination, or can be billed to Medical Assistance, Minnesota Care, or MHCP.
 
Immunizations protect children from diseases that can cause death or serious illness, even today.  Immunizations for infants should start no later than 2 months of age and should continue at regular intervals throughout adulthood.
 
The following immunizations are available at Sibley County Public Health & Human Services:
  • DTaP - Diphtheria, Tetanus and Pertussis (whooping cough)*
  • IPV - Polio*
  • MMR - Measles, Mumps, and Rubella*
  • Hib - Haemophilus influenzae, type B
  • Hepatitis B*
  • Varicella - chicken pox)*
  • PCV - Pneumococcal
  • Tdap - Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis*
  • Hepatitis A
  • MCV4 - Meningococcal
  • HPV - Human Papilloma Virus
  • Rotavirus
  • Shingles
  • Influenza
* - shots required for school attendance
 
Proof of up-to-date immunizations is required for school attendance in Minnesota.  Parents who are opposed to immunizations must sign a medical form or a conscientious objection form in order for their children to attend school.
