Mental Health Services
Adult Mental Health
This is a voluntary service provided by Sibley County Human Services to adults who have a serious, persistent mental illness and who meet certain guidelines for services.
Mental illness occurs when a person has a biochemical brain disorder that affects thinking, emotions and possibly their ability to manage their daily living. Depression, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and anxiety disorders are common mental health diagnoses. Mental illness can affect people of all ages, races and genders.
Sibley County Human Services can assist you in finding a qualified mental health professional to complete a diagnostic assessment and work with your mental health professional to gather the necessary paperwork to determine eligibility to receive services.
A Case Manager will assist you in gaining access to medical, social, educational, vocational and other necessary services as they relate to your needs.
Our Community Support Services Program can help you remain in the community by offering you support, providing medication monitoring, assist with independent living skills and crisis assistance.
Children’s Mental Health
This is a voluntary service provided by Sibley County Human Services to children 0 to 18 years of age who have a serious emotional disturbance and who meet certain qualifications for services.
Sibley County Human Services can assist you and your child to determine if any mental health problems exist, to help you find a qualified mental health professional to assess your child and to work with your mental health professional to gather the necessary paperwork for qualification.
Services may include in-home people who will help you with your child’s behaviors, provide individual and/or family counseling and/or parenting education. When needed, respite care, foster care and residential treatment may be provided. Services vary depending on your child’s specific needs.
